Well, I'm not sure it's just a power problem: I tried an usb memory
stick that declares 500mA consumption, and I get this:
[ 144.512000] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access Freecom DATABAR
1.00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
[ 144.524000] sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] 7829504 512-byte logical blocks: (4.00
GB/3.73 GiB)
[ 144.712000] usb 1-1: reset high-speed USB device number 3 using
ifxusb_hcd
[ some more resets]
[ 146.772000] sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off
[ 146.776000] sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
[ 146.952000] usb 1-1: reset high-speed USB device number 3 using
ifxusb_hcd
[ some more resets]
[ 149.020000] sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: disabled, read cache:
enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 149.204000] usb 1-1: reset high-speed USB device number 3 using
ifxusb_hcd
[ some more resets]
[ etc. ]
no problems with a stick that declares a 200mA consumption.
That would seem to corroborate the power problem *but* if I flash
barrier breaker the same 500mA memory stick works just fine.
The wifi stick still doesn't work though:
[ 552.516000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ifxusb_hcd
[ 552.740000] usb 1-1: ath9k_htc: Firmware htc_9271.fw requested
[ 553.112000] usb 1-1: ath9k_htc: Transferred FW: htc_9271.fw, size: 51272
[ 554.416000] usb 1-1: Service connection timeout for: 256
[ 554.420000] ath9k_htc 1-1:1.0: ath9k_htc: Unable to initialize HTC
services
[ 554.424000] ath9k_htc: Failed to initialize the device
[ 554.432000] usb 1-1: ath9k_htc: USB layer deinitialized
So I suspect that it's a combination of power *and* a regression in the
ifxusb_hcd driver.
